We are pleased to report that the first recalibrations for the AF40-6 gearbox have been successfully tested on the road. The vehicle used for this initial test is a 2008 Saab 9-3 TiD, which has been modified to run as an “A-tractor” with a speed limit of 30 km/h.
The recalibration includes new shift points, enabling lockup at lower speeds, and reducing slip. Additionally, gears have been restricted to 1-3 for this specific setup. These adjustments have resulted in lower RPMs, improved acceleration, and a 14% reduction in fuel consumption.
Our next project will involve recalibrating a 9-3 Turbo X. This will necessitate adjustments to the torque limiters and lockup speeds in conjunction with modifications to the engine ECU. The stock calibration currently limits torque to 370Nm in the lower gears and 430Nm in the higher gears. Additional limiters activate when the gearbox oil heats up, significantly reducing performance.
Current Status of Other Models
I am also mapping recalibrations for the following models: NG9-3 and NG9-5 (Turbo4, Turbo6, TiD/TTiD). The areas of focus include:
- Shift points and Lockup
- Eco/Normal, Sport, and Winter modes
- Slip Control
- TipTronic: Automatic up/downshift speed and allowed speed for shift
- Especially useful on diesel cars to reduce consumption
- Torque Limiters
- Maximum Engine RPM
Road testing is currently underway, but we have not yet released these updates to customers. We must complete reseller training for the new tools required for these recalibrations, which is scheduled for 2024. We will publish another update with detailed information and pricing once these preparations are finalized.
Thank you for your patience and continued support.
Best regards,
Mackan
